The Frank Jackson Foundation supports research into the most pressing issues facing humanity and our planet, along with work to communicate research findings, bring about change and apply solutions.  Below is information on some of our Environmental grants. Environmental Change Institute

The largest of the Foundation’s grants in this area is in support of research posts at The Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford (ECI). Their research is of great importance to the future of our society and encompasses Ecosystems, Climate Change, Forests, Land, Carbon and Energy use.  The Foundation is proud to support Professor Yadvinder Malhi who is one of the UK’s leading Environmental Scientists.

Gresham College

Gresham College was founded in 1597 and has been providing free lectures within the City of London for over 400 years. The College’s 130 annual lectures and events are free and open to all. The College has been recording its lectures since the 1980s and live stream all lectures for those unable to attend in person. There are now over 2,000 lectures freely available online on the Gresham College website and on YouTube.

Prominent Environmentalist Jacqueline McGlade was appointed the Frank Jackson Foundation Professor of the Environment for 2018-2022, and in her lecture series Professor McGlade explored “Frontiers – Emerging Environmental Issues with Global Implications”.  Her lectures can be viewed online on the Gresham College Website.

Dr. Jacqueline McGlade and Prof. Myles Allen

Professor Myles Allen became the Frank Jackson Professor of the Environment from September 2022, presenting a lecture series focused on net-zero, global warming and climate change. These lectures can be attended in person at Gresham College or viewed online.

Professor Allen is a leading Climate Scientist who has contributed extensively to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) including being a Lead Author on the 2018 special report on Global Warming 1.5°C.
